Meet the Team

Nina

Social Media Manager

“I was really excited to join the Oxjam team because it’s not often you find a role where you can get as much as you give. I’m developing invaluable skills and working with a fab team of like-minded people, all knowing that my efforts are going into supporting a truly worthy cause!”

Gareth

Fundraising Coordinator

“I’ve been involved in Oxjam for a few years now, and it’s always fun! It’s great reaching out to people and having them so keen to get involved to help raise money for Oxfam. I’m excited for the events we’re going to be putting on this year!”

Graham

Sponsorship Coordinator

“I came to be apart of the Oxjam Manchester team through being an Oxjam Gig Maker. It was through running a one off Oxjam gig in Chorlton that I got to know some of the team. After the gig I asked to be a part of the wider festival. I learned quite a bit about what it takes to run an Oxjam event through being an Oxjam Gig Maker plus I found out all about the great work that Oxjam does as a whole. I’m really glad I’ve joined the core festival team – it’s been a terrific experience so far!”

Alex

Volunteer Coordinator

“This now my third year as Volunteer Coordinator for Oxjam Manchester. What I like most about Oxfam is that they treat everyone with the dignity and respect that people deserve. Most communities already know what they need to do to make their lives better, they just don’t always have access to the means or knowledge to do so. Oxfam helps provide that means or knowledge for life, rather than on a temporary basis. Oxjam is a great opportunity to use music and art to bring people together and instil those communal values that Oxfam cherishes whilst having fun.”

Josh

Tech Coordinator

“I first got involved with Oxjam almost accidentally back in 2015, but I’ve been hooked ever since. It goes without saying that helping to end poverty is an incredible cause, so it’s a privilege to be able to do that through something so enjoyable. There’s always such a huge range of musical talent on offer, and being able to introduce that music to a wider audience is also very rewarding, and really makes you appreciate what a musically gifted city Manchester is. It’s quite inspiring to see the amount of time and effort everyone is volunteering to make this happen, and it’s always a pleasure to work alongside people who share the same passion for charity. It has its challenges of course, but it’s more than worth it for the chance to make such a positive impact!”

About Oxjam

Oxjam Manchester Festival is a series of events happening throughout the year and all leading up to an urban music festival in late September.

This music extravaganza essentially raises money for Oxfam in order to support those less fortunate than ourselves both close to home and in distant lands. We also want to raise awareness of the amazing work that Oxfam do by engaging with as many people across Greater Manchester as possible and what a better way to do that than with music!

Through the Festival we want to offer opportunities for businesses and organisations to work together in creating a real community spirit to promote a wider awareness of the fight against poverty and injustice. We are fortunate in so many areas of Greater Manchester with our relatively stable economic position, access to healthcare and our education system. However, for many even sanitary and water provisions are scarce.

We ask you to get involved in any way possible: spread the word, sponsor an event or run your own, share our news and donate if you can.

Where do your donations end up?

Oxjam is an annual event that supports local artists and raises money for Oxjam. The vast majority if your donations will end up directly supporting charitable causes around the world with a small percentage used to cover costs.

MCR Finest

We are a collective of writers and creatives that bring Manchester’s Finest to life as a free to all platform across web, print and social media covering Restaurants, Bars, Art, Theatre, Events, Music and much more…

We aim to provide a service for the betterment of the Manchester ecology and to promote the very best our city has to offer.

With a social media reach of over 1 million people per month the website and printed publication have thrived in the city off the back of a very simple ethos: support and positive promotion / affirmation of independent businesses that truly deserve it.
